CV
Originally from Northwest Ohio, Hans Gindlesberger’s artistic practice considers issues of locality and displacement. He crafts an absurd response to current trends of rural decline by deploying elements of the theater and silent film to manipulate the authenticity of the photographic document. His recent projects have grown to incorporate elements of video, sound, and site-specific installation. These projects and others are rooted in a need to recover a sense of belonging from a landscape that is increasingly in states of social, psychological, and physical flux. He received his Master of Fine Arts in Photography in 2006 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a 2008 fellow in Photography from the New York Foundation for the Arts and currently holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor of Photography at the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
