A Photograph of the Sun in the Style of...
a collaboration with AI that positions photography’s analog history against its algorithmic present. AI models are trained on monographs by canonical landscape photographers and prompted to generate images of the sun. The resulting image is down-sampled and transcribed by hand, pixel by pixel, in CMYK ink. These drawings are made of photographic materials and retain a vestigial appearance of the medium while remaining indexically empty. The sun becomes an ironic subject: essential to photography, yet absent from every stage of the process that produced these images.
