Weighing
the Rain

The photographs in Weighing the Rain draw a connection between the extremity of the monsoon season and the unique intensity of Korea’s social landscape. Borne out of decades of rapid post-war development, the forces that drive the country’s pace, productivity, and cultural impact are acutely felt. Water, an infinitely mutable symbol, is a running motif whose nourishing and destructive presence signifies the duality at play in the optimism and alienation of a small, yet influential country aspiring to an ever-brighter image of itself.
