Gerrymandered

2016 - 2017

Gerrymandered appropriates the (il)logic of our current political system into artworks that empathize and satirize representatives from some of the most gerrymandered congressional districts in the United States. Facial recognition points are plotted on official government portraits and are then remapped onto the boundary of the district they serve, bending the photographic information into an abstracted, illegible portrait that evokes a practice with little basis in the real-world geography it purports to represent.
